List Of All Water Starter Pokemon

Here is a list of all the water starters that you could have gotten and also some more about each of them.

Squirtle

Squirtle is a pure water type that was introduced in Generation 1. It evolves into Wartortle and then Blastoise, which both also share the same typing. If you are a fan of the anime, you know that Squirtle and its later forms play a major role. Ash Ketchum catches one but he hasn’t evolved it into its later forms (as of writing this). Gary Oak also had one and was quickly able to evolve it into a Blastoise. It remains as one of the main Pokemon in Gary’s party. May also had one and was able to evolve it into a Wartortle.

Totodile

Totodile is a pure water type that was introduced in Generation 2. It evolves into Croconaw and then Feraligatr, which both also share the same typing. In the anime, Ash was able to catch a Totodile but he hasn’t evolved it into its later forms (as of writing this). We also see trainers like Marina and Khoury use Totodile during the series.

Mudkip

Mudkip is a pure water type that was introduced in Generation 3. It becomes a ground and water combination when it evolves into Marshtomp and then Swampert. In te anime, we see Mudkip’s owned by trainers like Brock and Nicholai. Ash does NOT have a Mudkip or any of its other forms (as of writing this).

Piplup

Piplup is a pure water type that was introduced in Generation 4. It evolves into Prinplup, which shares the same typing. Prinplup then evolves into Empoleon, which is a water and steel combination. In the anime, Piplup is the main Pokemon of Dawn, who was one of Ash’s former traveling companions. Ash does not have a Piplup or any of its evolved forms (as of writing this).

Oshawott

Ohsawott is a pure water type that was introduced in Generation 5. It evolves into Dewott and then Samurott, which both also share the same typing. In the anime, Asha has an Oshawott. It has not evolved it into its later forms as of writing this.

Froakie

Froakie is a pure water type that was introduced in Generation 6. It evolves into Frogadier, which shares the same typing. Frogadier then evolves into Greninja, which is a water and dark combination. In the anime, Ash had a Froakie and evolved it all the way into a Greninja.

Popplio

Popplio is a strictly water type that was introduced in Generation 7. It evolves into Brionne, which shares the same typing. Brionne then evolves into Primarina, which is a water and fairy combination. In the anime, Popplio is the main Pokemon of Lana, who is one of Ash’s former classmates. Ash does not have one as of writing this.

Sobble

Sobble is a pure water type that was introduced in Generation 8. It evolves into Drizzile and then Inteleon, which both also share the same typing. In the anime, Sobble is caught by Goh, who is one of Ash’s traveling companions. Ash does not have one as of writing this.
