Blue
Blue serves as the main rival for the player in Generation 1 and he is also the becomes Champion at the Indigo Plateau. He actually only becomes the Champion for a short period of time before the player (Red) beats him. He is someone who doesn’t have a specific type and trains all sorts of different Pokemon. In the anime, Blue is renamed to Gary Oak and serves as Ash Ketchum’s main rival in the early part of the series. Gary later goes on to become a Pokemon breeder.

Lance
Lance serves as the Champion of the Indigo Plateau in Generations 2 and 4. Lance is a trainer that focuses strictly on Dragon-Types and is considered to be a very powerful trainer.
