Hydreigon

Hydreigon is a dark and dragon type that was introduced in Generation 5. It resembles a three-headed dragon and is considered to be violent and destructive. In the anime, Hydreigon is the main Pokemon that is used by Carlita. She is a character in the 14th Pokemon movie (White—Victini and Zekrom and Black—Victini and Reshiram).

Greninja

Greninja is a dark and water type that was introduced in Generation 6. It resembles a frog and a ninja combination. This is also the final form of Froakie, which you can get as a starter in X and Y. In the anime, Ash Ketchum has one after starting out with a Frogadier. It is also used by Sanpei who is a reoccurring character in the anime.

Grimmsnarl

Grimmsnarl is a dark and fairy type that was introduced in Generation 8. It seems to resemble a troll, ogre, or goblin. As of writing this, Grimmsnarl has not appeared in the anime.

Malamar

Here are some additional tidbits about the type that we found interesting but couldn’t find space for above.

  • The dark and steel types were both introduced in Generation II.
  • This type is immune to Psychic attacks but it can be nullified by the Miracle Ey move.
  • Generation V (5) introduced 16 new dark-type Pokemon, which is the most of any generation.
  • The type did not receive a gym until Sword and Shield. The leader for those games was Piers at Spikemuth Gym. While saying that the type did have a few members of the Elite 4, including Karen, Sidney, and also Grimsley.
