A List Of All The Pokemon Regions
Here are all of the regions that you could have gotten on our quiz and also some more details about each of them. This includes the real-world places that they represent and more trivia.
Kanto
Kanto was the first region that was ever revealed in a Pokemon game and is the main setting of all of the games in Generation 1. This is the region that a lot of fans say is their favorite because of the nostalgia factor.
All of the towns in the region are based on colors. The only exception is Pallet town but that is obviously a reference to a color pallet. Kanto is said to be based on the Kantō region that is in Japan.
Johto
Johto was the second region that was ever revealed in the Pokemon games. It serves as the main setting for the Gold, Silver, Crystal, Heart Gold, and Soul Silver video games. Johto is connected to Kanto by The Magnet Train, which allows trainers to easily travel from Goldenrod City to Saffron City.
All of the names of the cities are either plants or something that is related to plants. This includes New Bark Town, Cherrygrove City, Violet City, etc. Johto is said to be based on the Kansai region in Japan.
Hoenn
Hoenn was the third region that was revealed in the Pokemon games. It serves as the main setting of the Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald video games.
The cities in Hoenn are based on colors, similar to Johto. Hoenn is said to be based on the Kyūshū region in Japan.
Sinnoh
Sinnoh is the fourth region that was revealed in the Pokemon games. It serves as the main setting of the Diamond, Pearl and Platinum video games.
There is not a specific theme that ties together the different cities in the region. It is said that Sinnoh is based on the Japanese island of Hokkaidō.
Unova
Unova is the fifth region that was revealed in the Pokemon games. It serves as the main setting of the Black and White video games.
The names of the cities are all based on the weather in some form. It is said that the Unova region is based on New York City and not somewhere in Japan.
Kalos
Kalos is the sixth region that was introduced in Pokemon games and it serves as the main setting of the X and Y video games.
It is believed that the theme of the cities in Kalos is each of them having something to do with plants. It is said that Kalos is based on France.
Alola
Alola is the seventh region that was introduced in the Pokemon games. It serves as the main setting of Sun and Moon.
Alola is said to be based on Hawaii. Each of the cities in Alola is based on Hawaiian adjectives.
Galar
Galar is the eighth region that was introduced in the Pokemon games. It serves as the main setting of Sword and Shield.
It is said that Galar is based on the United Kingdom.
