Bulbasaur is one of the three starters of Kanto. It evolves into Ivysaur and then into Venusaur. All three of them are grass and poison combos. Venusaur is also the mascot for the Pokemon Green and LeafGreen versions of the video games. Venusaur is also able to Mega Evolve.
Charmander, Charmeleon, and Charizard
Charmander is one of the three starters of Kanto. It evolves into Charmeleon and then into Charizard. Charmander and Charmeleon are both pure fire types and Charizard is fire and flying combo. Charizard is also the mascot for the Pokemon Red and FireRed versions of the video games. Charizard is also able to Mega Evolve into two different forms, Mega Charizard X (fire and dragon) and Mega Charizard Y (fire and flying).
Squirtle, Wartortle, Blastoise
Squirtle is one of the three starters of Kanto. It evolves into Wartortle and then into Blastoise. All three of them are pure water types. Blastoise is also the mascot for the Pokemon Blue version of the video game and it is also able to Mega Evolve.
Caterpie, Metapod, and Butterfree
Caterpie is a bug type that evolves into Metapod. It then evolves into Butterfree, which is a bug and flying combo.
Weedle, Kakuna, and Beedrill
Weedle is a bug and poison type that evolves into Kakuna and then into Beedrill.
Pidgey, Pidgeotto, and Pidgeot
Pidgey is a normal and flying type that evolves into Pidgeotto and then into Pidgeot.
Rattata and Raticate
Rattata is a pure normal type that evolves into Raticate. There is also an Alolan version of both, which turns them into a dark and normal combo.

Sandshrew is a pure ground type that evolves into Sandslash. There is also an Alolan version of both, which turns them into ice and steel combos.
Nidoran♀, Nidorina, and Nidoqueen/ Nidoran♂, Nidorino, and Nidoking
There are two types of Nidoran in the game, Nidoran♀ and Nidoran♂. The female version evolves into Nidorina and then into Nidoqueen. The male version evolves into Nidorino and then into Nidoking. Both the first two versions are pure poison types but the final forms of each become ground and poison combos.
Clefairy and Clefable
Clefairy is a pure fairy type that evolves into Clefable. They were first classified as normal types but changed after fairy was created in later Generations. Clefairy now evolves from Cleffa, which was introduced in Generation 2.
Vulpix and Ninetales
Vulpix is a pure fire type that evolves into Ninetales. There is also an Alolan version of both of them. Alolan Vulpix is a pure ice type and Alolan Ninetales is an ice and fairy combo.
Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff
Jigglypuff is a normal and fairy combo that evolves into Wigglytuff. They were both first classified as pure normal types but were changed after fairy was created. Jigglypuff also evolves from Igglybuff, which was created in Generation 2.
Zubat and Golbat
Zubat is a flying and poison type that evolves into Golbat. It then evolves into Crobat, which was created in Generation 2.

Oddish is a grass and poison type that evolves into Gloom and then into Vileplume. Gloom also now evolves into Bellossom, which was introduced in Generation 2.

There are also Galarian versions of each bird. Galarian Articuno becomes a psychic and flying combo, Galarian Zapdos becomes a fighting and flying combo, and Galarian Moltres becomes a dark and flying combo.
Dratini, Dragonair, and Dragonite
Dratini is a pure dragon type that evolves into Dragonair and then into Dragonite. After it evolves into Dragonite, it then becomes a dragon and flying combo.
Mewtwo and Mew
Both Mewtwo and Mew are pure psychic types that are also considered legendary Pokemon. Mewtwo is able to Mega Evolve into two different forms, Mega Mewtwo X (psychic and fighting) and Mega Mewtwo Y (pure psychic).
